Please follow the instructions given in lectures about the submission and return of assignments and other assessed work. Arrangements can vary from unit to unit, and not all assessments are handled in the same way.
If you contact the Undergraduate or Postgraduate offices at any time, always quote your full name, Student ID and unit code.
You must always use a Linguistics Assignment Coversheet , signing the plagiarism declaration every time. To help us process your assignments effectively, please write your name neatly IN CAPS and underline your family name. You must use your full name as it appears on your student card. Fill in every section of the form and make sure you have the correct unit code, convenor and assignment number. It is your responsibility to make sure that you keep an electronic copy or photocopy of every assignment you submit.
During opening hours , assignments can be submitted in the box just outside the undergraduate office (C5A Room 508) on your right as you come out of the lift on the fifth floor.
Selected units only are to be submitted electronically. Your unit convenor will advise you. As a general rule assignments can only be submitted during regular access hours for Building C5A. Check with our Linguistics Undergraduate or Postgraduate offices or the University Security office if you are unsure. Generally, this is 7.30am to 6.30pm.
All assignments are registered in and date stamped on arrival. Assignments retrieved first thing in the morning will be date stamped the previous working day. Unit convenors will advise you of their due date and a time requirement (if applicable) – i.e., if required by 5pm Friday – a convenor may wait until that time to check with the relevant office for received assignments and collect all assignments. Anything stamped on the Monday morning may still be considered late. So, if in doubt, check with your convenor.
Marked assignments can be collected from either the Undergraduate Office (C5A508) or Postgraduate Office (C5A515). Some convenors will return assignments in class. When collecting a marked assignment, please have your Student ID card ready and tell us the unit code . (In very large classes it can help to know the name of your tutor as assessments are sometimes sorted according to who marked them.)
A group assignment will be returned to the first group member who comes to collect it. It is up to group members to make arrangements for informing each other about the result and sharing the returned assignment.
Your feedback and serious suggestions are ALWAYS welcome – on any Linguistics matter. We will try to respond to any reasonable suggestions or pass them on the relevant person.
